What can I do to help?
Encampment Shutdowns and Cold Weather Needs
Thank you for helping us live out our mission!
Because of the inclement weather, it is difficult to coordinate volunteer efforts and donation drop-offs, so at this time, one of our biggest needs is for your prayers:
-
Prayers for our friends who feel displaced and who lost possessions.
-
Prayers for our friends who are missing their usual "community."
-
Prayers for those who chose to remain on the street - especially in this cold weather, may they find warm shelter and feel safe.
-
Prayers for safety for our team as they go out in this inclement weather to seek out those that need a place to stay/warm clothes and as they go visit our friends at the motel, where they were moved after the encampments were shut down.
-
Prayers that God keeps showing us the places we need to go and the people that he wants us to see.
-
Prayers for all of the different organizations who are working to keep our friends who are experiencing homelessness both safe and warm during this time.
Although this past week has felt extra challenging, showing up for our friends is the core of our mission and it's what we do all year long. When our friends are scattered and ice covers the streets, it does require more resources and makes our work more urgent. But it's still the same work - being present with and showing love and compassion to those we know as friends. If you are interested in supporting this mission financially, you can donate below. We are grateful for the blessing of your support.
